Looking Deeper
You look at me
See what you want to see
But what’s beneath that?
Beneath the muscle and fat
Within my bones
Behind my tones
Of voices
Are the choices
The decisions
I have to make
The risks
I have to take
To be with you
And when you’re through
Im left
With the pains
All over
Like stains
On bleached jeans
Worn down
Ripped
Not at all close
To the price
When you first bought them
Just like my heart
Worn down
From all its use
It’s beginning to rip
Not at all close
To the pumping
Heart it once was
You look at me
See what you want to see
But what’s beneath that?
See what you want to see
But what’s beneath that?
Beneath the muscle and fat
Within my bones
Behind my tones
Of voices
Are the choices
The decisions
I have to make
The risks
I have to take
To be with you
And when you’re through
Im left
With the pains
All over
Like stains
On bleached jeans
Worn down
Ripped
Not at all close
To the price
When you first bought them
Just like my heart
Worn down
From all its use
It’s beginning to rip
Not at all close
To the pumping
Heart it once was
You look at me
See what you want to see
But what’s beneath that?
